![]() Overall the concept of a safari is great in design, but in reality it is no different than a large zoo. Finally, if you have kids, the waterpark looks to be a hit for the young ones especially during the hot summer months. The boat and train ride were gimmicky but good to go on if the lines are shorter. The birds and elephant exhibits are better than you’d expect as you are in closer proximity and they make for better picture-taking. The other wildlife are interesting, but with the bus ride being about an hour, it does seem faster paced. The lions themselves aren’t overly active as they sleep most of the day. The safari part of this facility is what will attract you to the park, however we were a bit underwhelmed between expectation and reality, especially given we went to the Toronto Zoo a few days earlier. The likelihood of the other animals damaging your car is substantially slimmer this way. If you are comfortable with a bit of risk, you can take your vehicle but skip the baboons as they are the most likely to mess your vehicle up. Taking photos is rather difficult due to the tint though. The rundown here is that if you are worried about your vehicle being damaged, go with the tour bus with tinted windows. The cost of tickets for two adults with online entry is just over $100, and the cost of going on their tour bus is another $11 or so. The African Lion Safari in Hamilton is a large wildlife exhibit with the draw of driving through large sections of land in your vehicle to see animals in a setting closely resembling their natural habitat. “There are numerous signs, and we hand out slips of paper to all guests warning them to keep their windows closed. If you found this review informative, please indicate that it was helpful so I know where to better focus my review efforts. “That’s absolutely forbidden at our park,” said Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at Lion Park. Potgeiter said he tried to fend the lion off, suffering injuries to his arm as he did so. The animal then lunged at the car, biting the woman through the open window. The lion stopped about a meter from the vehicle as Chappell continued taking pictures, a Lion Park statement said. Witnesses in other vehicles honked their horns, trying to get the attention of Chappell and Potgieter as the animal got nearer, according to a source close to the investigation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Inside the lion enclosures, they stopped to view a group of the animals.Īt that point, Chappell “rolled down the passenger window in order to take photographs,” according to Potgieter’s company, Kalabash Tours.īut she apparently didn’t notice that one of the lions was approaching the vehicle from the side. ![]() ![]() The sound the band creates is so rich and full, Byrne reports to us, that journalists have accused him of using pre-recorded tracks to help fill the room. The percussion they add to familiar Talking Heads songs adds dimensions and power to the songs not previously realized. It’s an exceptionally lively group, clearly enjoying themselves and stunningly talented. ![]() Several years ago Byrne performed with marching bands and color guards, an experience he must have found rewarding, for the band he has gathered here has elements of both, without the structure or rigidity. But they also were treated to a magnificent musical experience that featured many of Byrne’s solo works, later collaborations and, more importantly, his business suit-clad, barefoot, instrument-wearing marching band (for lack of a better description), a joyous group made up largely of percussionists (with a variety of recognizable and unrecognizable instruments), but also guitars, a bassist, a synth player and two terrific singer/dancers (Renee Albulario and Tendayi Kuumba). And, indeed those fans were treated to a comprehensive survey of the band’s history, from their first album (“Don’t Worry About the Government”) to the last (“Blind”) with others, including the megahit “Burning Down the House” scattered throughout the show. It’s fair to say that a large percentage of the audience at American Utopia, which has made a triumphant return to Broadway after a quarantine-induced pause, was there to see and hear Byrne, former frontman of one of the greatest punk/new wave bands ever, The Talking Heads, play some of the band’s hits. In fact, according to a recent CR member survey, two-thirds of those who own cordless drills have a model that’s 18 volts or more. But despite the capabilities of these smaller drills, most people prefer larger, heavy-duty options. They offer plenty of power for most household tasks, like hanging a shelf or tightening screws, and they weigh less, too. Lower-voltage drills, which we call general-use drills in our ratings, typically use about 12 volts. They’re typically heavier but also more capable of tackling difficult tasks like boring a large hole through studs or joists, or driving hundreds of screws on a single battery charge, which is what you’d want if you were building a deck. And the changes aren’t unique to cordless drills they’ve occurred across many of the power tools we test. These improvements in cordless drills come thanks to advancements in lithium-ion battery technology and the introduction of brushless motors, which are more powerful despite requiring less energy. We need to make sure we are taking care of all athletes. The women’s programs have thrived over the last decade. Over the years, Boise State has developed a well-rounded sports department. We forget about Olympic sports during all of this. Would it be more beneficial from a financial perspective? It’s hard to say. Do these university presidents have the guts to go rogue? I doubt it. But a new conference with a focus on putting the best on field product out there. This would solidify the Mountain West as the number six conference and land them a big bowl game nearly every year. Memphis, Tulane, SMU, Tulsa, Wyoming, Colorado State, Air Force, New Mexico Hawaii, Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Nevada, UNLV, Boise State, Utah State One of those teams could slide in nicely since Hawaii is only a football member. But Thompson shouldn’t stop there, call Gonzaga and get them in the Mountain West ASAP! I might even look at Wichita State from the AAC and St. I also think UTSA and Tulane are some intriguing names here. The Mountain West should be in a position of strength here. If Craig Thompson hasn’t been on the phone with SMU, Memphis and Tulsa he isn’t doing his job. There are some really strong Group of Five programs that might be looking for a new home. Does that change with the American in a weakened state? There is a certain comfort level with the current Mountain West and there is always the fact that the current geography of the Mountain West makes sense, can other conferences say the same thing? Expand The Mountain West hasn’t exactly been aggressive when it comes to conference expansion. But is it too late? With Boise State being left out yet again, what’s next? Here are the options for Boise State moving forward: Stay Put New athletic director Jeramiah Dickey looks like an excellent hire. The program didn’t necessarily regress, but it didn’t grow either. Fundraising and facilities seemed to stall as well. His scheduling philosophy was questionable (home and homes with Sun Belt teams) and his lack of urgency left many Bronco fans frustrated. I’m not going to lie, the Curt Apsey years (former AD) lead to a period of stagnancy. But that dominance has waned in recent years and a new television contract has reduced the exposure the Broncos once had.īoise State has been chosen over programs that have more recent success (in some cases) and some with larger markets. ![]() Over the past 20 years, Boise State has built a reputation of dominance, by beating the big boys and running roughshod over conference opponents.
